Captain Dick

At 66, Dick is a graduate of the Naval Academy and a Vietnam vet. He was a patent attorney and later worked at the Department of Energy. Seven years ago he retired to Sarasota, pronounced himself bored, and got a job piloting the Myakka Maiden. Four times a day he and other captains take tourists by the boatload into the lake to look for the park's most celebrated megafauna.  "Everybody wants to see the alligators," he says.

Captain Bruce
“Captain Bruce” joined Myakka Wildlife tours five years ago after retiring from a career as a research vessel captain at Long Island University’s Southampton College.  Being a naturalist at heart he loves to educate his passengers about the flora and fauna of Florida’s habitats.

Captain Ken
Being a Captain on a Great Lakes passenger vessel was a great precursor to becoming an air boat Captain for Myakka Wildlife Tours. Harsh northern weather allows me the time to be south during the high tourist season.
